Red Capsicum Chutney

Red capsicum chutney is perfect side dish for Idli or dosa. Everyone likes spicy chutney for Idli or dosa and it’s the perfect side dish for breakfast😋. This dish is so simple, healthy and different than other coconut chutneys.

This chutney is kind of addicted to me for dosa or Idli, so whenever I find red capsicum at market first thing I remember to prepare chutney. Always preparing regular kind of chutneys as side dish is kind of boring so better to try differently and present in a interesting way😉 . It can be stored in refrigerator for 2-3 days. The spiciness of the chutney can be adjusted accordingly. You can feel sweet and spiciness of the chutney which goes well with Idli, dosa,roti or rice.

This chutney is easy and healthy which goes well with Idli, dosa or roti.

Ingredients
  • 1 red capsicum big (chopped)
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • 1 tsp channa dal
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1-2 green chilli
  • 1 red chilli
  • 1 tsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil
for tampering
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 1 red chilli
Instructions
  1. Chop red capsicum , tomato and keep aside.

  2. Heat oil in a pan add jeera, coriander seeds, red chilli then saute for few seconds.

  3. Now add channa dal, urad dal, green chilli and saute till it get nice brown color.

  4. Add coriander leaves fry for few seconds and set aside to cool.

  5. Once it cool add to blender and grind coarsely.

  6. Heat oil in a pan add chopped red capsicum and saute for few seconds and add tomato then fry till it capsicum becomes soft set aside to cool.

  7. Then add capsicum tomato mixture to coarsely grounded dal mixture, add little water, salt and grind in to fine paste.

  8. Serve spicy red capsicum tomato chutney to Idli or dosa. Add tampering before serving.

 Preparation of red capsicum chutney – step by step

Note:

In addition, adjust the quantity of green chilli accordingly.
