Mint moong dal curry / Pudina moong dal curry

­čî┐Delicious and tasty mint flavored moong dal curry which is best healthy dish goes well with rice or roti. Whenever I have fresh mint leaves at home I prepare this moong dal curry which gives refreshing taste. Mint has lot of health benefits which should be included in our regular diet.

Mint is a great appetizer and it promotes digestion. It also clear the stomach in case of indigestion or inflammation.  Any dish prepare with mint leaves will give you a relief. Adding mint leaves to the moong dal curry is optional but it gives amazing flavor to the dish. Kids will love this curry but adjust the quantity of green chilli according to the taste.

Delicious and mint flavored moong dal curry goes well with rice and roti.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup moong dal
  • 1 cup mint leaves/pudina (chopped)
  • 1 onion medium (sliced)
  • 1-2 tomato (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 4-5 green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • to taste salt
  • 1-2 tsp oil
  • water as required
Instructions
  1. Add moong dal to a pan and saute for couple of minutes till it becomes heat and keep aside.

  2. Wash the moong dal well and boil in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles till it becomes soft.

  3. Heat oil in a pan add jeera, onions, green chilli and fry them till it becomes translucent.

  4. Now add chopped tomato, turmeric and saute them till it becomes soft.

  5. Then add chopped mint leaves and fry for a minute.

  6. Its time to add cooked moong dal mix well.

  7. Adjust the quantity of water for desired consistency of curry. (If serving with roti add less water or if serving for rice add more water with thin consistency).

  8. Finally add salt and boil for 2-3 minutes by closing the lid.

  9. Switch of the stove and add lemon juice and stir well.

  10. Delicious and flavorful mint moong dal curry is ready to serve with roti or rice.

Note:

  • Adjust the quantity of green chilli according to your taste.
  • Adding mint leaves is optional to the curry but it gives amazing flavor to the dish.
  • Adjust the quantity of water added to the curry according to the desired consistency.
